The Crosslake Fibre Lake Ontario Project was a project to construct a new fibre-optic submarine cable between Toronto and New York State. The 135 km system is comprised of two terrestrial segments, and a 58 km submarine segment through Lake Ontario. The cable installation utilized several innovative methods of construction, including horizontal directional drilling, and specialized assets used to construct transoceanic subsea cable system. Mike Cunningham, the CEO of Crosslake, will describe the design, engineering and construction of the cable system, that was placed into service last month.
