CHAPTER SPONSORED SCHOLARSHIPS
Li S. Liu, P.E. Memorial Scholarship
This $1000 scholarship is given annually to a high school senior from Western New York who is accepted into an accredited engineering program. Deadline for submission is April 1st.
Li S. Liu, P.E. was one of our chapter's greatest supporters. He was President in 1978-79 and continued to work endlessly with the student chapters and in membership recruitment for our chapter until his death in 1991.
Richard Wohler, P.E. Memorial/Hutch-Tech High School Scholarship
This $1000 scholarship is presented annually to a senior from Hutch Tech High School in Buffalo, NY who is accepted into an accredited engineering program. Deadline for submission is April 1st.
This scholarship was bequeathed to our chapter by Richard Wohler, P.E. upon his death at the age of 92 in 1992. Mr. Wohler served as Treasurer/Membership Secretary from 1951 until 1977 when the duties were split. He retained the position of Membership Secretary from 1977 until 1986. He served a record 35 years of continuous service as a chapter officer. Our chapter's dedicated service award was renamed the Basinski-Wohler Award in his honor in 1980.
NATIONAL SPONSORED SCHOLARSHIPS
NSPE Auxiliary Scholarship
This National scholarship is for a female, in the amount of $1,000 for two years. It is based on academic achievement. The recipient of this scholarship may attend any university of her choice, providing the engineering curriculum selected is accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET). A scholarship renewal report will be required for the second year payment. Deadline for submission is December 1st.
NSPE -Virginia D. Henry Memorial Scholarship
This National scholarship will be awarded to a female in the amount of $1,000 for her freshman year. It is based on academic achievement. The recipient of this scholarship may attend any university of her choice, providing the engineering curriculum selected is accredited by ABET. Deadline for submission is December 1st.
NSPE –Paul H. Robbins, PE, Honorary Scholarship
This National scholarship is for a male or female in the amount of $1,000 for two years. It is based on academic achievement. The recipient of this scholarship may attend any university of his or her choice, providing the engineering curriculum selected is accredited by ABET. Deadline for submission is December 1st.
STATE SPONSORED SCHOLARSHIPS
NYSSPE – Past Officers’ Scholarship
This State scholarship will be awarded to the child of a NYSSPE member, in the amount of $2,000. This award is based on academic achievement. Deadline for submission is December 1st.
NYSSPE – Auxiliaries Award
The NYSSPE Auxiliary Award is a $500 gift to recognize a female senior engineering student graduating from an ABET accredited engineering program at a New York State College or University (either public or private), and is determined based on academic achievement and extracurricular activities. A separate mailing for this goes out in early March.
